Cunard Launches New Spa Concept

By Tony Mallinson

Cunard Line launches a brand new holistic spa concept: Mareel Wellness and Beauty.

Cunard has co-created with Canyon Ranch the Mareel Wellness & Beauty which will debut onboard the newly refurbished Queen Elizabeth this December, which will be followed later this month by Queen Victoria and in November 2020 the RMS Queen Mary 2.

The word ‘Mareel’ comes from the old Norse language which means ‘phosphorescence of the ocean’. Mareel will offer a new luxury space decorated in hues of blue, green and pale coral to create a sanctuary of calm where guests can soak up the transformational power of the oceans. New features to be offered by Mareel onboard Queen Elizabeth will include:

  • A new couple’s suite for seaweed bathing rituals
  • A meditation room with acoustic resonance loungers
  • A reconfigured multifunctional fitness centre and studio space
  • New sound therapy facilities in every treatment room.

These new spa and wellness treatments and expertise will be offered in partnership with Canyon Ranch, with a brand new and extended spa treatment menu featuring mineral-rich seawater and marine-based experiences to transform and heal.Picture1

The luxury products used within the new Mareel spa have all been selected to offer the very best and to meet socially responsible production techniques, with organic treatments featuring ingredients that are sustainably harvested, wild-picked, biodynamic and toxic free.

The signature treatment to be offered in the Mareel spa is ‘Ocean Discovery’, offering the option to combine five treatments or select individual 30 minutes treatments if the guest prefers. Using marine products from VOYA which have been sustainably harvested from Western Ireland, Ocean Discovery aims to leave guests feeling revitalised from the glow of the ocean.

Extending past the spa space, Cunard will broadcast stretching and meditation films on stateroom TV’s every morning. Also to be offered in the daily programme are activities on deck such as dance and open-air yoga.Picture2
