By Tony Mallinson

Four Seasons Yachts has officially named Kate McCue as the inaugural Captain of Four Seasons I, the first ultra-luxury yacht in its prestigious fleet. The highly anticipated vessel is set to welcome its first guests in January 2026, offering an unparalleled yachting experience.

A Trailblazing Maritime Leader

With nearly three decades of maritime expertise, Captain McCue made history in 2015 as the first American female captain of a mega-ton cruise ship. Her extensive career includes key leadership roles across the industry, from cadet and deck officer to master mariner and captain. Before joining Four Seasons, she spent nearly a decade with Celebrity Cruises, where she commanded the Celebrity Beyond and played a pivotal role in increasing female representation on ship bridges to over 30% fleet-wide.

McCue has also sailed with Royal Caribbean International and Disney Cruise Line, further cementing her reputation as a respected leader in the maritime industry. Beyond her professional accomplishments, she has built a significant social media presence, sharing insights into life at sea and inspiring the next generation of mariners.

Leading Four Seasons I to New Horizons

As captain of Four Seasons I, McCue will oversee the vessel’s safe navigation and ensure an exceptional onboard experience for both guests and crew. The yacht boasts an impressive 1:1 guest-to-staff ratio, promising world-class service and personalized luxury for every traveler.

Rainer Stampfer, President of Global Operations, Hotels, and Resorts at Four Seasons, expressed his enthusiasm for McCue’s appointment:

“Captain Kate McCue is the ideal leader to helm Four Seasons I as we embark on this exciting new chapter in luxury yachting. Her passion for hospitality, commitment to excellence, and trailblazing leadership align perfectly with our vision to reimagine the yachting experience. We are thrilled to welcome her aboard as we prepare to set sail in 2026.”

McCue herself shared her excitement about the role:

“This role is both an incredible honor and an exciting opportunity to shape the Four Seasons Yachts experience from the very first voyage. Together with our crew, we’ll craft unforgettable journeys and set new standards in luxury yachting, ensuring every milestone is a celebration of Four Seasons’ legendary service and innovation.”

A Commitment to Excellence

Tony Faso, General Counsel and Chief Talent and Culture Officer at Marc-Henry Cruise Holdings – the joint owner and operator of Four Seasons Yachts – highlighted the significance of McCue’s appointment:

“The selection of Captain Kate for this leadership position reflects our mission to attract and retain a first-in-class team of exceptional crew and top talent in the industry.”

With McCue at the helm, Four Seasons I is poised to redefine luxury yachting, delivering extraordinary voyages that combine sophistication, comfort, and impeccable service. As the countdown to 2026 begins, travelers can look forward to an exclusive yachting experience unlike any other.
