QE2 Opens as a Floating Hotel Next Week

By Sovereign Cruise

Cunard’s former flagship, the iconic QE2, will soon open as a luxurious floating hotel.

It has been known for a long time that QE2 will be transformed into a hotel and now finally that idea has become real. QE2 will permanently be docked at Port Rashid in Dubai and will officially open on Wednesday 18th April.

The transformation has consisted of accommodation refurbishments with 224 rooms being remastered, along with a variety of venues including restaurants, entertainment areas and meeting rooms.

There has also been enhancements made to the port itself as the terminal has been changed into a maritime museum boasting a wide range of QE2 artwork for guests to look at before entering the hotel.

The operator of the new QE2 hotel is PCFC Hotels, who have stated the following on their website: “Docked permanently at Dubai’s Mina Rashid, she has been lovingly restored to her former glory – revitalized with all the latest in smart technology. Step aboard and relax in her comfortable rooms and suites that offer an imposing backdrop of Dubai’s iconic skyline or the ocean beyond.”

The website continues to read: “Embark on a culinary journey across her 13 restaurants, bars and entertainment venues. Immerse yourself in her rich past at the onsite QE2 Exhibition. We’ve curated a seamless and unforgettable journey that blends old-world sophistication with a new level in hospitality.”

We are very excited to see the transformation of QE2 and reminisce on her amazing heritage.
