Mediterranean Cruises

Find your Mediterranean cruise with Sovereign

The Mediterranean has always been one of the most popular cruise destinations. It‘s close enough to be familiar, but it’s still different enough to our everyday lives - who wouldn‘t want to visit Greece or Split? How could anyone resist the beaches of the south of France or Italy and those glorious, azure waters? Whether you are looking for a warmer winter cruise destination or a relaxing summer trip with loved ones, then you really won’t find a more versatile location than the Mediterranean.

Or, if you prefer the historic and storied, there are locations that go as far back as the ancient Egyptians, the Peloponnesian Wars, the Romans, the Trojans and all the way up through the centuries to the present day. Mediterranean countries are also well-versed in welcoming visitors, so you know you‘ll be able to find what you’re looking for in a way that makes the entire trip worth it.

Exploring the Ports of the Mediterranean

The convenience of a Mediterranean cruise is the wide choice of embarkation and disembarkation ports. For the ultimate convenience, why not avoid the airport and cruise round-trip from Southampton, Dover or Portsmouth? Or, if you prefer to jet straight to the sun on a fly-cruise, the major embarkation ports in the Mediterranean are Rome, Barcelona, Nice, Athens and Monte Carlo - all of which are also delightful cities in which to enjoy a few days of pre- or post-cruise fun.

Our personal favourite ports of call include Portofino, St. Tropez, Monte Carlo, Sanary-sur-Mer, Kotor, Istanbul, Rome, Tunis and Florence (from Livorno). Italy, Greece and The Balearics are popular cruising destinations due to their welcoming culture, breathtaking architecture, enchanting history and mouth-watering local cuisine.

All of the leading luxury cruise lines provide Mediterranean cruises, on ships carrying just 200 passengers, up to those carrying many more. You could spend your entire holiday just looking through the cruises on offer, so perhaps it really would be a good idea to call us and ask for some recommendations.

When to Cruise the Mediterranean

Further adding to the convenience of Mediterranean luxury cruises is the wide variety of itinerary lengths and types. These cruises can be from six nights to four or five weeks, and your choice of itinerary can include the Spanish coast and French Riviera, the French and Italian Riviera, The Greek Isles & Turkey, or on longer voyages. You'll be able to sail between more of these spectacular locations.

The summer months are some of the best months to sail the Mediterranean Sea, but it is magical no matter what time of the year, especially when visiting the enchanting Greek islands. Sail the Western Mediterranean for warm climes and splendid beaches, or explore Eastern Mediterranean cruises for a spot of island hopping, fresh seafood dishes and breath-taking sunsets.
